Residential Trenchless Sewer Repairs: A Case Study

Home / Residential Trenchless Sewer Repairs: A Case Study

The technology of trenchless pipe lining in Richmond, VA, makes pipe rehabilitation easier. Repairing or replacing underground pipes involves heavy digging and renovations. It doesn’t include the work itself. Much of our work has shown the convenience and reliability of this technology.

Trenchless Repairs For Challenging Situations

Many pipes and sewer lines are in difficult-to-access underground areas. It is quite a challenge to repair them using excavation methods. This is where cured-in-place pipe or CIPP pipe lining addresses these situations.

The no-dig approach uses access points, cleanouts, or sewer holes for direct access. Plumbing technicians insert pipe lining equipment to create new inner pipes. The pipe liners apply a layer of resin to the inner walls, which cures in place within a day. It is doable to repair them without a full sewer line replacement.

Non-Disruptive Residential Sewer Line Work

In 2016, we did work in Harrisonburg for underground pipes in two residences. Excavation-based repairs would have been a huge hassle, not to mention very expensive and disruptive. We were already familiar with the territory, having worked on many jobs in the James Madison University area. We’ve previously relined cast iron, clay, Orangeburg, and PVC pipes with local contractors.

We proceeded on the sewer pipe line repair using cleanouts situated in the basements. We also used access points from the street. There were also two access points from the street to the city connection. Both pipes were beyond 15 feet below the house.

The damage caused missing sections on the side of one and the bottom of the other. The first one had 25% missing, and the other with a six-foot gap. Unless inspected, no one can tell that there was already major damage. Upon completion, we finished the jobs by installing a new PVC cleanout.

Because of the efficiency of trenchless technology, both projects left no trace of any damage. Each home now has a durable and long-term serving sewer line that won’t have any major issues.

USA Pipe Repair has created many other pipes and sewer lines with dependable trenchless technology. Call us so we can fix your plumbing and sewer systems for good.
